Type Material

Holotype: Male holotype and female allotype from White Mountains, 10 miles northeast of White River, Arizona, July 8 to 11, 1940 (Gertsch and Hook), in the American Museum of Natural History. Male paratype, E 30, no further data, in the American Museum

of Natural History. Male paratype from Mesa, Arizona, September 11, 1935 (E. Sanders), in the collection of Harriet Exline Frizzell” (Muma, 1951, p. 80).

Measurements: Males: Total Length, 19.0 to 23.0 mm. Chelicerae, 4.6-5.5 mm length; 2.2-2.8 mm width. Propeltidium, 2.3-3.2 mm length; 3.4-4.5 mm width. Palpi, 19.0-18.5 mm. 1st Legs, 15.0-14.5 mm. 4th legs, 24.0-23.0 mm. Holotype, smaller measurements.

Female Allotype: Total Length, 23.0 mm. Chelicerae, 6.2 mm length; 2.7 mm width. Propeltidium, 2.5 mm length; 4.7 mm width. Palpi, 16.0 mm. 1st Legs, 13.5 mm. 4th Legs, 22.0 mm.

Operculum Description: Figure 126 shows the opercula of the genital segment” (Muma, 1951, p. 80).

Chelicerae Description: Male: Structure very similar to that of pallipes except the fondal notch is only slightly wider than the base of the fixed finger” (Muma, 1951, p. 79).

Female: “Dentition worn but apparently similar to that of E. pallipes (Say). Minor differences include the presence of only two intermediate teeth behind the principal tooth and a badly worn or missing intermediate tooth between the medial and anterior teeth” (Muma, 1951, p. 80).

Diagnosis:

Other Information: The single female described here was associated with a male of this species but is nearly identical with females of the variable species Eremobates durangonus Roewer and when further material has been collected may prove to belong to the latter

species. It is also possible that this species may, when the type is studied, prove to be Eremobates toltecus Pocock, a species described from Mexico” (Muma, 1951, p. 80).
