Type Material

 

            Holotype: “Male holotype from 14 mi. SSW of Cuatro Cienegas, Coahuila, Mexico on August 9, 1968 by S. C. Williams, M. M. Bentzien, J. Bigelow, and W. L. Minckley, deposited in the collection of the California Academy of Science, San Francisco. Male paratype from 2.9 mi. SE Rancho Orozco, Cuatro Cienegas Basin, Coahuila, Mexico on August 11, 1968 by S. C. Williams, M. M. Bentzien, and W. L. Minckley, deposited in the collection of the California Academy of Science, San Francisco” (Muma, 1987, p. 6).

 

            Measurements: Males: Total length, 28.0 to 31.0 mm. Chelicerae, 7.8-7.8 mm length; 3.9-3.6 mm width. Propeltedium, 3.9-3.6 mm length; 6.0-6.0 mm width. Palpus, 22.0-22.0 mm length; CL/CW=2.05 width. Leg 1, 18.0-18.0 mm length; PW/PL=1.57 width. Leg 4, 29.5-29.0 mm length; A/CP=5.90 width. Holotype larger measurements.

 

            Ctenidia Description: “4 ctenidia and no scopula by having the ctenidia moderate in length to long and flattened” (Muma, 1987, p. 6). Structure of ctenidia indicated on figure 15 (Muma, 1987).

                        

            Chelicerae Description: “the virtual lack of an anterior tooth on the movable cheliceral finger…Structure similar to that of other species of the group and as indicated in figure 14 of the chelicerae” (Muma, 1987, p. 6). 

 

Diagnosis: E. nodularis Muma is the most readily confused species but it has 2 short ctenidia, dark markings on the propeltidium, and pale abdominal pleura. Females of E. coahuilanus are unknown” (Muma, 1987, p. 6).
